The business was founded in 2007 by Alex Hickin, whose extensive background, global experience, and dedication to the craft continue to shape the standards we work to today.

Alex began his roofing career through a traditional apprenticeship, supported by specialist studies with the Lead Sheet Association. Keen to broaden his knowledge, he travelled the world and spent time working in New Zealand, where he learned the unique skills of corrugated and sheet metal roofing. On returning to the UK in 2006, he continued to expand his expertise by training in Belgium, gaining hands-on experience with European zinc roofing techniques and materials.

With a growing skill set, strong industry contacts, and a genuine passion for high-quality workmanship, Alex decided to start his own business in March 2007. AWH Roofing has grown steadily ever since, supported by a diverse and highly skilled workforce. The formation of the new limited company marks the next step in our continued expansion, allowing us to offer even more specialist services while maintaining the personal care and craftsmanship that built our reputation.
